What is an EDM (Enterprise Data Management)?

The global database management system (DBMS) market revenue grew to 80 billion U.S. dollars in 2020. Cloud DBMS accounted for the majority of the overall market growth, as database systems are migrating to cloud platforms.

#Technology has come to modify many of the practices that were previously used for #information management. Previously, companies managed all their information physically, where paper files were the basis for communication between areas and employees.

As time has passed, the digital age has reached all organizations, allowing communication to be streamlined through electronic processes and systems, which in many cases should translate into greater efficiency and more timely information management. . However, in many of the companies the value of the data is not being fully exploited through digital systems, since they do not have a strategy and/or secure platforms for managing them.

Not realizing that information is not being used organically and efficiently can lead companies to waste time, but especially resources that are reflected in their profits.

Enterprise #data management (EDM) is a set of processes focused on: good administration, accuracy, quality and security in data management - information. The digital information that is shared within the organization, whether in structured data (databases, spreadsheets, among others) or unstructured data (audio, images and video), is managed through data management platforms that currently base their operation on the cloud, for greater accessibility at any point that is required.

Thus, an #EDM allows companies and users to manage information by creating, capturing, archiving, editing, processing, but above all managing documents in different formats, which allow an agile flow of communication.
